About

Wearing glass

Wearing glass started as a part time creative adventure and has developed into a passion for glass jewellery. And because every bit of glass is individually lampworked, each piece of jewellery is unique. A refreshing change in a market saturated by mass produced replicas.

The collection of stunning glass jewellery ranges from funky earrings and pendants, to one of a kind hand-blown glass necklaces. All beautifully crafted in Isla’s Grey Lynn studio.

Beads of Courage

Isla supports the Child Cancer Foundation by donating beads to the Beads of Courage programme. Beads of Courage provides a physical story of a child’s journey recognising their strength and courage during their cancer journey. Each bead represents a treatment (for example chemotherapy, injections, scans); an experience (hair loss, isolation, fever) or milestone (completion of treatment).

Looking after your jewellery

Many factors can influence the condition of jewellery, so please make sure your jewellery is properly cleaned, repaired and stored. Take care to avoid extreme humidity or heat as this may cause tarnishing.

Please removing jewellery when you shower or bathe and particularly when on the beach, in the sea and in chlorinated water.
Avoid spraying perfume or applying creams directly onto your jewellery.
Keep away from extreme temperatures, humidity and sunlight, and avoid wearing your jewellery when using bleach.
To protect your jewellery, pieces should be individually placed in a pouch or within a soft lined box to stop them being scratched or tangled. Ideally store your jewellery in a dark, cool and dry place, and try to keep pieces apart, so that they don’t rub together or tangle up.

Glass jewellery is durable, but will break if dropped on a hard surface or struck by an object. Please handle carefully.

Enamel jewellery is beautiful but fragile and can scratch easily. It needs proper care on a regular basis to maintain its beauty. Be careful handling your pieces of enamel jewellery while you are cleaning it to prevent any accidental damage.

Using a soft, lint free cloth is an effective way to keep glass and silver looking shiny and lustrous. A silver cleaner can also be used to clean sterling silver pieces. Ideally, store silver pieces in an airtight bag to help reduce tarnishing. Do not use tissue paper or paper towels to clean metal as they can cause scratching.
